The Transitional Bag

Come into a fitting with me for a moment.

I was styling a client last week — full calendar, back-to-back days, the kind of week where she goes straight from a board meeting to a dinner without going home first.

She looked at me and said, "I need one bag that just works. I'm so tired of thinking about it."

Here's what I've learned after years of pulling bags for clients: the transitional bag isn't about finding something that blends in. It's about finding something so well-considered that it never looks wrong. The right structured tote for travel. The perfect top-handle at a lunch. The same bag, photographed on a Tuesday and a Saturday, looking exactly right both times.

That bag exists. I'm going to show you what I'm reaching for right now — and exactly how I'm styling each one.
